This project is set aside for award under Section 8(A) through the Small Business Administration for 8(A)firms located within the Geographical locations of the Washington District Ofrfice and the Balitmore District Office. For purposes of determining eligibility for award of competitive construction requirements, the term "firms located within the geographical areaa of competition shall mean (1) firms having offices within the geographical area of competition; and (2) firms having offices with at least one full time employee located within the geographical area of competition. SBA will confirm the successful offeror's eligibility to receive an award. The Standard Industial Code (SIC) for this project is 1721 -- Special Trade Contractors for Painting, Paperhanging and Decorating. The size standard is $7 million. The work includes lead paint abatement of various buildings and structural surfaces, all types of surface preparations such a scraping, sanding, caulking, reglazing, sealants, fillers and other similar work to facilitate the painting, staining or wall covering of various interior and exterior surfaces, as listed in the schedule of prices and described in the solicitation. Surfaces so prepared and ready to receive new paint shall be finished with materials as specified herein, complete and ready for use. The projected date of issuance of the solicitation is 5 Nov 97. The projected date for bid opening is 9 DEC 97. This will be an indefinite quantity construction contract with firm fixed unit prices. The term will be one year with two one year options. The estimated cost of construction is between $2.5 million and $5 million.
