Laboratory/California Insitute of Technology (JPL/Caltech), operating
under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA), is issuing a Request for Information (RFI)
associated with the New Millennium Program (NMP) and its deep-space
mission objectives. NMP is a space flight validation program aimed at
validating key technology breakthroughs that will reduce cost while
enhancing the performance of 21st Century space science missions. The
Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) areas of focus for this RFI
include: (a) Autonomy; and (b) In-Situ Instruments and MEMS. The
technology areas being sought in this RFI include: (1) Dust Analyzers;
(b) Seismometers; (c) Areal Composition Instruments; and (d)
Autonomous Rendezvous and Docking Control Technologies. A two (2) week
response period (closing as of 4:00 p.m. P.S.T., November 12, 1997)
will be provided for submittal of technology papers (limited to between
two and five pages per technology response).The RFI and its specific
details will be available on October 29, 1997 on the NMP website at
