COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 29,1997 PSA#1961RELEASE OF PCS ELITETM Contact Ms. Kathryn Carr, (814) 269-6406, or Ms.
Kate Buynack, (814) 269-2566. Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC)
has announced the release of the PCS EliteTM Powder Compaction
Simulation software. The PCS EliteTM software is a comprehensive, 2-D
finite element-based simulation tool used to design powder metallurgy
(P/M) components and to optimize manufacturing and performance in a
cost-effective manner. Part density distribution and tooling stresses
are predicted from geometry, material, and process parameter inputs. A
significant upgrade in ease-of-use over the PCSTM 1.0 software, the
32-bit Windows-based program links preprocessing, simulation, and
analysis with a common graphical user interface in a multitasking
environment. A user-expandable material database supports workpiece
powder materials and tool materials. The PCS EliteTM software was
developed under the National Center for Excellence in Metalworking
Technology (NCEMTJ program and is available to the domestic P/M
industry as part of the NCEMT mission to transition technology to
industry. The NCEMT is operated by CTC for the U.S. Navy Manufacturing
Technology (MANTECH) Program. CTC, located in Johnstown, PA, is an
independent nonprofit organization committed to assisting industry and
government achieve world-class competitiveness. The PCS EliteTM
software will be released on November 5-6, 1997, at an NCEMT
end-of-project demonstration to be held at CTC. U.S. and Canadian
companies can obtain an annually renewable site license for the
software, which includes an annual one-day training session for one
person (held at CTC), technical support (10 hours), and membership in
the powder compaction users group. The capabilities of the P/M
compaction software can also be accessed through custom simulation
services offered by CTC. In addition, CTC is available to provide,
under separate contract, calibrations of specific powders and
development of additional material models. To receive further
information on the software, end-of-project demonstration, or CTC
services, contact Kathy Carr, P/M Simulation Manager at Concurrent
Technologies Corporation, 1450 Scalp Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904, or by
phone at (814) 269-6406 or e-mail at carr@.ctc.com. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0429 19971029\SP-0002.MSC)
