COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 29,1997 PSA#196155 -- MODIFICATION TO A PREVIOUS NOTICE OF THE RELEASE OF A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSAL (RFP) AND PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE FSC: 5510, 5520, 5630. This
solicitation contains various NSNs. The total yearly estimated
quantity of all various NSNs is various. yearly eastimated quantity.
Offers will be evaluated with a 10% preference for small disadvantaged
business concerns. Note 12 applies. Delivery is 7 days, 3 days, 24 hrs
days after date of delivery order to conus destinations. This
solicitation contains: a option to extend the term of the contract for
4 additional years. The Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) is
seeking proposals from business entities interested in participating in
an acquisition as a Prime Vendor (PV) for lumber and related products.
A PV can be defined as the designation of a single source of supply
for a wide range of products. The PV would be responsible for supplying
various types of lumber products, including, but not limited to,
softwood lumber, hardwood lumber, plywood/veneer, poles, pilings, ties,
crossarms, dowels, plugs, stakes, doors and moldings. This is a
representative list and should not be considered exhaustive of all
products that will be required of the inititative. The intended
solicitation will cover most of the continental US. Lumber support is
requested for DISC customers in the following regions of the country:
Northeast -- approximately 22 customers -- estimated value is $5.3
million per year; Southeast -- 73 customers -- $19.7 mil; Gulf -- 52
customers -- $13.3 mil; Great Lakes -- 27 customers -- $6.8 mil;
Midwest -- 27 customers -- $6.6 mil; Northwest -- 43 customers -- $11.4
mil; Southwest -- 62 customers -- $16.8 mil. The intended solicitation
will have further definitions of regions, customers and estimated
values. Prospective contracts should have the capability to deliver
lumber and related products within, at least, one of the above regions.
The intended solicitation will be issued on an unrestricted basis with
the resultant contract being an Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) for
one base with four (4) one-year options. This willbe a best
value/source selection acquisition in which technical merit is
considered more important than price. Solicitation is anticipated to be
issued on 07 Nov 1997 with an estimated closing date of 22 Dec 1997. A
Pre-Proposal Conference, to be held at DISC, is tentatively planned
for the third week of November and interested parties should request to
