Underwater excavation is required to remove high spots from the bottom of the navigation channel in the Snake River located in the reservoir behind McNary Dam. Material to be removed is solid bedrock. Underwater blasting will not be allowed. Removed materials may remain in the river but must be pushed aside into low spots. Depth of the navigation channel is 14 feet below low pool elevation of McNary reservoir. The reservoir elevation fluctuates approximately 5 feet from low pool to high pool. Pool elevation will vary when work is being performed. Approximately 700 cubic yards of material must be excavated. Estimated cost is between $100,000 and $250,000. Nonrefundable payment of $35.00 (thirty-five) for plans and specifications to accompany request for solicitation. Check made payable to FAO, USAED, Portland.
