COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 3,1997 PSA#1964

REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON DOD JOINT TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE (JTA) VERSION 2.0 2ND DRAFT. The Department of Defense has published the second draft of Joint Technical Architecture (JTA) version 2.0 (as of 31 October 1997) and is soliciting comments from anyone with an interest in the document. The JTA is DoD's premier technical authority and provides the "building codes" which, when implemented, permit the development of interoperable and affordable systems. The JTA identifies a minimum set of mandatory information technology standards and guidelines to be used in all new and upgraded system acquisitions across DoD. The scope of the JTA (Version 1.0) focused on Command, Control and Intelligence (C4I) systems to support critical joint Warfighter interoperability. The second draft of Version 2.0 was restructured to extend the Version 1.0 scope from C4I Systems to include other domains and sub-domains, and add standards which promote economy. The JTA is a "living" document and will evolve as technology and the marketplace changes. To that end industry and DoD activities are encouraged to propose constructive changes to the JTA's content by 21 November 1997. The draft document is available in electronic format on the World Wide Web (WWW) from URL http://www-jta.itsi.disa.mil/jta/jta_dev.html. Industry and non-DoD comments should be submitted through the DISA Center for Standards (CFS), using the comment table format that is available on the web page above and sent to jta-comment@itsi.disa.mil. DoD activities should submit comments to their CINC/Service/Agency JTA point of contact which are listed at http://www-jta.itsi.disa.mil/jta/jtadgmbr.html or via jta-comment@itsi.disa.mil . For additional information, please contact Wilbert Berrios (Chief, Information Processing Standards Department), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Center for Standards, 10701 Parkridge Blvd, Reston, VA 22091. 703-735-3552. Comments only are solicited. This is not a Request for Proposals; Do not submit proposals as set forth in FAR Part 15.
