Extension for the AN/VIC-3 VIS -- Potential Sources Sought This is not
a presolicitation notice pursuant to FAR Part 5, but is a market
survey pursuant to FAR Part 10 for identification of potential sources
capable of providing the Wireless Communications Extension for VIS.
The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) is conducting
a technology assessment market survey to query industry sources
regarding wireless communications. This market survey is for companies
experienced in the field of wireless and military communications and
who have performed research & engineering, applied system level
integration disciplines, and are capable of producing products of this
caliber. The Army's interest lies in providing a wireless
communications capability for crew members outside of armored and
combat vehicles who must maintain communication with the crew members
remaining in the vehicle. The required range is approximately one
thousand feet in a wide variety of terrain's and rigorous environmental
or climatic conditions and must not interfere with or suffer
degradation from on or off board vehicle operating and weapon systems.
Integration of this wireless capability into the existing AN/VIC-3
Vehicular Intercommunications System (VIS) digital intercom
communication system is a basic and critical requirement. This notice
is not a request for bids or proposals and does not indicate that the
Army intends to purchase said equipment. A formal solicitation does not
exist. This action is for the purpose of identifying potential sources
capable of providing the Wireless Communications Extension for VIS.
The Government will not reimburse contractors for any cost incurred for
