Niederhaus, tnieder@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, is seeking information and potential sources to procure off-the-shelf, non-developmental ammunition for test and evaluation. There is potential for adoption and production for armed services use. The ammunition is desired to interface with standard U.S. Forces issue 2.75 in., 12 Gauge shotguns. The objective is to obtain a cartridge that will provide the capability to defeat door lock mechanisms, hinges and pad locks to allow rapid entry. The projectile shall be non-explosive and non-fragmenting and shall not contain any materials considered hazardous according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This 12 Gauge Breaching round shall fire in the standard 12 gauge military shotgun (2.75 and 3.0 inch chamber) and will require no additional sighting or muzzle devices. The firing of this round shall in no way degrade the performance or useful life of the shotgun. These cartridges shall be able to function and withstand hot, basic, and cold climates in accordance with ArmyRegulation 70-38. In addition, this ammunition shall be easily distinguishable from all other 12 gauge cartridges by color and/or markings. Interested firms should submit literature/brochures, not exceeding twenty (20) pages describing the technical capability of their candidate cartridges in response to the above criteria.
