The government plans to award a contract for the CP-1252C/ASN-128B Computer Display Unit (CDU), NSN 6625-01-399-5513, and the CV-3338A/ASN-128B Signal Data Converter, NSN 5895-01-399-4918. The CP-1252C/ASN-128B and CV-3338A/ASN-128B are components of the AN/ASN-128B modified by integrating a Global Positioning System (GPS) capability to the AN/ASN-128 and AN/ASN-128A Lightweight Doppler Navigation Set components by GEC-Marconi Hazeltine. This is a follow-on contract for the modification of up to a quantity of 600 additional sets plus an undetermined number of system spares including the 1553 interface card. An award date in Jan 99 is anticipated with a maximum production lead time of 9 months. The original contract was awarded to GEC-Marconi Hazeltine as the only responsible source since the modifications are proprietary to GEC-Marconi Hazeltine and a complete technical data package defining the modification of the basic system for incorporation of GPS capability is not available from the government.
