a Request for Offer(RFO)to purchase a Commandable Wireless Video system
for use and integration into the Space Shuttle, the Space Station and
Extravehicle Activity Mobility Unit (space suit). Offerors should have
experience with integrated RF-video systems with a strong emphasis on
small size and weight, low power usage, ruggedization, and full
antenna coverage. The system will be used externally in a space

requirements). Multiple cameras may be selected and up to two video
signals will be transmitted and received simultaneously. Telemetry is
highly desirable. Commanding as a minimum will include control of
lighting, camera iris, focus, zoom, shutter speed, transmitter on/off,
individual camera on/off, camera selection, antenna selection plus
multiple spare control capability for other functions. Commands will be
sent from the ground via the Shuttle or Space Station as well as
on-orbit. The operating frequency range is 2.2 -2.3 GHz range for video
and 900-950 MHz for command. This system will be required for use by
September 1998. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item
using FAR Part 12. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3861 and 500
employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9.
