99 -- MINE CLEARING DEVICES SOL M67854-98-R-2012 DUE 120397 POC Ms. Vicki Whiteman (703) 784-5822 Ext.256 or FAX 703-784-5826 The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to award a sole source contract to Aardvark Clear Mine Ltd of Aberdeenshire, Scotland for an upgraded version of the Aardvark flail. Vendors who feel that they can provide this product should submit a capability statement that demonstrates a bona fide ability to meet the Government's requirements and illustrates it is advantageous to consider other sources. All responses should reference this document. The Marine Corps expects a trade in range of $120,000 from their existing flail. Delivery date of the flail is expected within 60 days upon contract award. This contract will include an option to procure one additional flail in FY99, spares, and also technical support for test evaluations and operator training. The system requirements include: The system must display substantial proof of its mine clearing capability and be able to neutralize antipersonnel and antitank mines surface laid or buried with an overburden of 8"; System shall fit as a complete operational unit in a C130 aircraft, weigh under 20 tons, and be equipped with an armor protective kit; The system shall operate manually and via a remote control unit producing a cleared path of at least 10'. No RFP is available for competitive bidding; however, interested parties are encouraged to submit a statement of capability for satisfying this requirement within 15 days of this announcement to the Contact Person listed above.
