E-MAIL: Shelly L. Whittaker, Shelly.Whittaker-1@kmail.ksc.nasa.gov. NASA/KSC plans to issue a RFO/ Request for Offers for Modification of the Elevator Control System in the VAB, High Bays 1 and 3. The work to be performed in this project consists of providing all labor, equipment and material to modify the Elevator Control System in the VAB, High Bays 1 and 3 at Kennedy Space Center FL. This includes replacement of Elevator Controls, consisting of : relay logic and motor-generator sets/ programmable logic controllers (PLC's) and micro-processor based DC SCR drives, replacing governors, all wiring including traveling cable, hall controls and car controls, door controls, and adding a limited elevator recall. The existing DC traction motors will be reused. The BASE BID will include the modifications described above to modify two sets of duplex elevators (Elevators 11/12 and 13/14). ADDITIVE ALTERNATE 1 will include the modifications described above to modify one set of duplex elevators (Elevators 9/10). ADDITIVE ALTERNATE 2 will include the modifications decscribed above to modify one elevator (Elevator 1). The order of magnitude for the procurement is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 600 calendar days after notice to proceed. (This magnitude and period of performance is inclusive of the two (2) Additive Alternates.) This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1731 and $7.0 Million. The anticipated release date of the IFB/RFO is on or about 11/12/97 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about 12/12/97. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB/RFO. Drawings will be available from the Bid Distribution Office 407-867-2851. All QUALIFIED responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
