AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR IMMERSIVE WORKBENCH
SYSTEM. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote.
This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ
and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this
amendment is to revise synopsis/solicitation RFQ-36833-JLW as follows:
NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) plans to issue a Request for Quotation
(RFQ) to Fakespace, Inc., Mountain View, CA, on a sole source basis
according to FAR Subpart 6.302-1 and U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). The RFQ is for
the following items: (1) one IWB-95 System -- Immersion System with a
projected-image table (Immersive tracker); (2) one set of VLIB-SGI
software library; (3) one set of Duo-Dynamic (software and hardware
bundle); and (4) one year of hardware and software maintenance for
items (1) through (3). This system must support the Virtual Wind Tunnel
and Data Visualization software utilized by the Aeronautics Design/Test
Environment and DARWINprojects. This procurement is being conducted
under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), FAR Subpart 13.6,
Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, and FAR Part 12, Acquisition
of Commercial Items. The provisions and clauses in RFQ2-36833-JLW are
those in effect through FAC 97-02. Interested firms have 10 days from
the publication date of this amendment to submit in writing their
qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be
used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct
this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the
10 days or without the required information will be considered
nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A
determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract,
on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this
notice, is soley within the discretion of the Government. Delivery to
NASA ARC is required within 90 days ARO. Delivery shall be FOB
Destination. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in
writing no later than November 13, 1997. An ombudsman has been

The due date for receipt of offers is extended to November 18, 1997 to
