70 -- AGGREGATE BACKUP AND RECOVERY SERVICES SUPPORT PRODUCT POC Cynthia Spencer Tel: 410-965-3369 REFERENCE CS1105CBD. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking sources who can provide Commercial-Off-The-Shelf software which provides an "add-on" software support product to work in conjunction with Aggregate Backup and Recovery Services (ABARS) to support data identification, data backup and data movement for three major initiatives: Year 2000 testing, Backup and Recovery Contingency Processing and the establishment of various LPAR test facilities. It would also enhance conversions to Systems Managed Storage (SMS). The software must run on IBM compatible systems with Multiple Virtual Storage/Enterprise Systems Architecture (MVS/ESA) Version 3.2 and higher with Job Entry Subsystem 3 (JES3) Version 3.1.3 and higher and the Data Facility Product (DFP) Version 3.2 and higher. It must exploit MVS/ESA enhancements including IBM's System Managed Storage (SMS). Additionally, the "add-on" software support product must: (1) Identify critical data sets and record ownership information for disaster recovery by analyzing JCL, SMF data, and CONTROL-M job scheduling information; (2) Build, generate and maintain ABARS aggregate definitions and selection lists; (3) Identify data sets appearing in multiple aggregates and avoid duplication; (4) Provide DASD and tape storage requirements for backup and recovery; (5) Analyze, monitor and track current and historical aggregate activity; (6) Provide exception and error analysis to assist with ABARS problem determination; (7) Generate recovery JCL and perform aggregate backup balancing; (8) Recover individual data sets from aggregate groups and provide extended rename during ABARS recovery; and (9) Provide incremental backup and recovery of ABARS aggregate groups. In addition, SSA requires the software be presently licensed, fully supported and documented, including future enhancements, revisions and updates of the product. The software must be fully operational and running successfully at a minimum of 10 sites, excluding any of the vendor's computer systems. Interested GSA schedule and non-schedule vendors who can furnish the required software and support are invited to submit in writing (NO FAXES) a substantial statement clearly demonstrating that the capability of the product offered meets the referenced requirements. Responses to this announcement must clearly state, and be substantiated by the submission of technical literature and other applicable descriptive literature, attesting to the ability to provide the required software and support. If any products and/or support are covered by a GSA Schedule contract, a copy of the contract, and/or GSA Schedule number should be provided. Any questions or clarifications concerning this announcement and the requirements herein must be submitted in writing. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), and the Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited or received. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION and is considered to be Market Research. Respondents will not be notified of the results of any evaluation of the source data received. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. Interested parties must respond to this notice in writing within 15 calendar days from the date of this publication.
