for quotes for services to which the Government intends to award a firm
fixed price contract using the Simplified Acquisition Procedures of FAR
Part 13 which is set aside for small business. The EPA is FACNET
certified. Any contractor/vendor able to meet requirements must
demonstrate in writing by closing date. All responsible sources
solicited may submit a quotation, bid, proposal which shall be
cnosidered. Interested person may identify their interest and
capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals and
include their tax ID number. This notice is intended for competitive
proposals. All proposals received within response date of publication
of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination
by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon
responses to tis notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENT This contract is to provide
the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Human Resources
(OHROS) with 2,500 hours of Sign Language Interpreting Services. The
Contractor may be required to provide as many as three sign language
interpreters simultaneously. The personnel shall be RID certified and
possess a skill level equivalent to a senior journeyman expert, and
shall be capable of interpreting in a wide variety of employment
settings, including (but not limited to) career counseling, interviews,
performance evaluations, staff meetings, technical/scientific meetings
and formal conferences and ceremonies. Additionally the interpreter(s)
shall be conversant and knowledgeable in scientific and technical
vocabulary, and experienced in interpreting for Deaf Federal Employees.
Requests for this service will be made by the EPA Headquarters
Disability Coordinator. The Coordinator will assign work, monitor
contractor performance, and approve invoices. While several day
advanced notification for services will normally be provided, the
contractor shall be expected to provide interpreters in urgent
situations within 4 hours after notification. Interpreters shall report
to EPA Coordinator (Alice Deighan -260.1630) in Room 3711 WSM, 401 M
Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. The work will be performed in space
designated by EPA, at Waterside Mall and other EPA facilities in the
Wasshington D.C. area. Occasionally interpreters will be required to
travel to perform interpreting duties. Personnel must be available to
provide requested services during the core hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30
p.m., Monday through Friday. The Period of Performance of this contract
shall be from the date of award through September 30, 1998 or until the
2,500 hours in the purchase are exhausted. Submit quotes to: US EPA;
