Bids will be opened on or about 06 January 1998. This solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Construction of a 18' x 50' buried (covered) concrete conduit structure (348 LF), a 23' high x 50' to 150' tapered width concrete entrance structure for the conduit (110 LF) and a 22' bottom width open channel leading to the entrance structure (1700 LF) . Construction of the concrete structures will require excavation and backfilling of soils, installation of wood or concrete piles, and placement of compacted granular materials. Construction of the open channel will require excavation and backfilling of soils, placement of riprap slope protection, and construction of floodwalls,retaining walls, and 10' wide low levees. Other work items include removing 8 existing buildings within the project right-of-way, partial demolition of the 15' x 39' existing adjacent buried conduit (1,500 L.F.), backfilling the existing conduit, construction of a 70' x 158' five span concrete slab bridge over the open channel, relocation of storm sewers, sanitary sewers and water mains, pavement removal and replacement, installation of traffic signals, and other miscellaneous site work. Completion of the work will require diversion of Perry Creek stream flows from the existing conduit to the new open channel and conduit. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $5,000,000.00 and $7,500,000.00. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 900 calendar days after receiptof Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. All requests for solicitation packages should be made in writing and no later than 14 days prior to bid opening. After such time, packages will be furnished if supply is available.
