876-4667. The PM, TMDE, is empowered by a General Officer Steering
Committee (GOSC) to develop an Army-wide focused strategy to realize
the full potential of diagnostics for reducing Operation and
Sustainment (O&S) costs. The ADIP will develop, test, and emplace
embedded diagnostics in all Army equipment. The program will involve
integrating common and enabling technology across multiple systems to
increase force effectiveness. A Horizontal Technology Integration (HTI)
approach will be used to develop, manage, integrate and field
components with a common diagnostic architecture across families of
weapon systems. Thrust 1 consists of improving diagnostics on current
weapon systems using available diagnostic tools and equipment, and
improving or replacing the support equipment for weapon systems. This
thrust will begin immediately and is designed to provide quick payback,
incorporating current diagnostic equipment and technology into existing
weapons systems. Thrust 2 consists of the development and fielding of
an anticipatory maintenance system. Thrust 3 consists of the
development and fielding of the Embedded Diagnostic System which will
be implemented in all Army equipment through a phased HTI developmental
program. Additional information is available on the ADIP Homepage at
http://armyhti.sed.redstone.army.mil. Those interested are invited to
submit white papers, concepts, and technology briefs as well as
information on products currently available for evaluation and
consideration for the ADIP. (0316) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0003 19971114\A-0003.SOL)
