are sought for a low cost Ballistic Missile Training Target (BMTT) that
currently exists and is threat representative of a Scud Missile System
for the Targets Management Office (TMO), Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
TMO is seeking from the commercial target industry various BMTTs that
could be utilized to support U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery School
(USAADASCH) flight demonstrations at McGregor Range, Fort Bliss, Texas,
in January 1998 and the Roving Sands Exercise in April 1998.
Requirements for the BMTT are as follows: It should be a
Non-Developmental Item (NDI) and must incorporate radar cross section,
physical configuration, and velocity data that model a Scud Missile
threat that can be categorized/detected within a 60Km trajectory by the
U.S. Army PATRIOT Missile System. In addition to the aforementioned
requirements, the BMTT must meet current USAADASCH environmental and
safety requirements. Any interested firms with expertise in BMTT
systems are invited to provide a statement of interest (one page), a
proposed concept statement (four pages maximum, pictures, specification
drawings included), plus data to substantiate their claims. The
statement of interest should include, as a minimum, the company's
experience relative to the targets requirements listed in the preceding
paragraph. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only,
does not constitute a soliciation, and should not be construed as a
commitment by the Government. Should a solicitation for this effort be
issued, it may contain down-select criteria for future option
exercise. The submission of a statment of interest does not constitute
participation in the final request for proposal. Responses to this
synopsis must be received not later than 1 Dec 97. All responses will
be reviewed/evaluated and respondents will be notified of the results.
