59 -- CABLE KIT ASSEMBLY SOL N68936-98-R-0016 DUE 122997 POC Margaret Keen, Contract Specialist, (760) 927-3180 Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake, CA intends to enter into negotiations on an Other Than Full and Open Competition basis with Mid South Electronics, Annville, KY because Mid South Electronics is the only company with the inherent capability, through prototype development, to perform a three part effort pertaining to the MK65 Mod 0 cable kit assembly. The MK65 Mod 0 cable kit assembly includes an adaptation of this unique connector in the M70 series cabling into the MK65 Mod 0 cable kit. The adaptation of this unique connector provides the capability for the MK65 Mod 0 cable kit assembly to power electric fuzing using Navy aircraft power. The first task under this effort consists of an analysis of the MK65 Mod 0 baseline design with resulting recommended changes which enhance the produceability, manufacturability, and reduction of costs without impacting the performance of the product. The second task will be the qualification of the modified design. The third task will be the manufacture and delivery of a baseline quantity of 3,000 MK65 Mod 0 cable kit assemblies. An optional quantity of up to 1,000 cable kit assemblies will also be included. Responses to this notice to intent to solicit, other than Mid South Electronics should submit responses no later than 30 days from the date of synopsis. Submitted responses should include, but are not restricted to the following data: previous specialized experience in similar developments, descriptions or qualifications in this area and other qualifications considered to be pertinent for this procurement.
