A -- PRE-PHASE A STUDIES FOR SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENTATION CONCEPTS FOR THE NEXT GENERATON SPACE TELESCOPE (NGST) Goddard Space Flight Center hereby amends RFO5-02948-352 in the following manner. RFO5-02948-352 is hereby superseded/replaced with NASA Research Announcement (NRA) 98-GSFC-1. The NRA provides for submission of proposals by December 5, 1997. Changes are intended to meet the requirements of NASA FAR Supplement Part 1835 for NRA content. We have preserved instructions of RFO5-02948-352 for submitting proposals to the maximum possible extent. Re-issuance of the requirement as a NASA Research Announcement will make possible the use of a scientific peer review of proposals, a process not readily accommodated by procurements conducted outside the process for broad agency announcements. This NRA is for Pre-Phase A Scientific Instrumentation Studies for the Next Generation Space Telescope (NGST). The NGST is envisioned to be an 8 meter class aperature, space based observatory optimized for the 1 -- 5 micron band, with a possible extension up to 30 microns and down to 0.5 microns.
