FISC San Diego is announcing its intent to issue a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; NO WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED. Proposals are being requested with this notice. The solicitation number for this quote is N00244-98-Q-0006. This solicitation and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 46. This solicitation is issued as a small business set aside, under Standard Industrial Code 3569 with a business size standard of 500 employees. FISC San Diego has a requirement for ceramic shot, size Z425. 200 each 55 LB containers are required (11000 LBS). The U.S. specification is SAE J1830 & AMS 2430K. (30/40 mesh / 0.425 -- 0.600 mm). The main characteristics are: high impact resistance -- rate of breakage below 15% after 100 cycles under 4 bars (57 PSI), dustless, high depth of plastified metal, free of metallic contamination, virtually no embedment effect, produces a regular surface finish. The required delivery is to NADEP North Island, in San Diego CA and an FOB destination charge is required. The provision at FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors -- Commercial Items applies. Addendum to FAR 52.212-1, Paragraph (b)(5): Offers shall provide an express warranty which at a minimum shall be the same warranty terms, including offers of extended warranties, offered to the general public.
