REPRESENTING THE ALASKA LAND MOBILE RADIO (LMR) EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IN
DEVELOPING A SOLICITATION FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. NOT CONTRACT
WILL BE AWARDED AS A RESULT OF HIS SOLICITATION. AGAIN, THIS
SOLICITATION IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. WITH
INDUSTRY'S ASSISTANCE, THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO DEVELOP A PLAN TO
CONSOLIDATE THE COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL
AGENCIES, AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMS IN THE STATE OF ALASKA. THE PLAN
WILL TRANSITION FROM THE EXISTING LMR SYSTEMS INTO ONE INTEGRATED
SYSTEM. THE NEW SYSTEM SHALL BE DESIGNED TO MEET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
AND MANDATES THAT CONSOLIDATE AND CONSERVE FREQUENCIES. THE INITIAL
OPERATIONAL CAPACITY (IOC) FOR THE NEW SYSTEM IS PROJECTED FOR OCTOBER
2002. THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO HOLD A PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE AT A
DATE TO BE ESTABLISHED IN THE REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)
SOLICITATION. THE INFORMATION RECEIVED IN THE PROPOSALS WILL BE USED BY
THE ALASKA LMR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP A STATEWIDE INTEROPERABLE
MIGRATION PLAN. BASED ON THE PLAN, A PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS)
FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION, OR LEASE OF THE REQUIRED SYSTEM WILL
BE DEVELOPED AND INCORPORATED INTO A FUTURE SOLICITATION FOR THE STATED
SYSTEM. ALL SOURCES INTERESTED IN RECEIVING THE RFI ARE ASKED TO SUBMIT
A REQUEST IN WRITING TO THE CONTRACTING OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR COSTS ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE
