COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 20,1997 PSA#1976A -- THE EW THREAT: TECHNOLOGIES, PROLIFERATION AND ANALYSIS CONFERENCE
With the increased emphasis on information warfare, the electronic
warfare (EW) aspect of the threat is being neglected. The EW threat is
alive and well in most countries. The Association of Old Crows (AOC),
in cooperation with the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC),
will conduct a conference on the foreign EW threat on December 9-10 at
Mitretek Corporation in Tysons Corner, McLean, Virginia. Attendance is
limited to US citizens with current Secret-level clearances. The theme
of this conference is "understanding the foreign EW threat and its
impact on US systems." This conference will present the latest
information on foreign EW systems, associated technologies, and their
proliferation. The conference is being chaired by Major General J. C.
King, USA, Director for Intelligence, J2, of the JCS. Lieutenant
General Patrick Hughes, USA, Director, DIA, will deliver the keynote
address. In addition, there will be a special guest presentation from
the office of the Director for Force Structure, Resources and
Assessment, J8, the Joint Staff, addressing requirements from a Joint
Staff perspective, to include the JROC and the Priority Process.
Presentations from the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), the National
Air Intelligence Center (NAIC), and NGIC will be given by nationally
recognized experts in the subject area. Included in the presentations
will be the results of recent exploitation efforts, detailed technical
description of foreign EW equipment and associated technologies and
analysis of the impact of the foreign EW threat. This is the first
conference of its kind to address this unique aspect of the threat
(i.e., foreign EW systems and capabilities). This conference is
absolutely essential for anyone involved in EW, particularly those with
an interest in and looking at the foreign EW threat. It is designed for
communicators, mission planners, EW analysts, threat officers, project
managers, and system developers (e.g.,
radar/communications/navigation). For additional Information, please
