DAAC01-98-Q-0021 DUE 120497 POC Purchasing Agent THERESA FARR (205)
235-4118 Contracting Officer JANICE NORTON (205) 235-6449 (Site Code
DAAC01) Provide polyelectrolyte polymer which enhances the flocculation
of hexa- valent and total chromium for the Chromium Treatment Facility
located in the Nichols Industrial Complex, Anniston Army Depot, Bynum,
AL. The water going into this facility is pre-treated utilizing air
strippers to remove volatile organic contaminants prior to entering the
Chromium Treatment Facility. The Chromium Treatment Facility treats
groundwater for hexaval- ent chromium (maximum influent concentration
5.0 mg/L) and total chromium (maximum influent concentration of 5.0
mg/L). Current concentrations range from .030 to.100 mg/L for both
hexavalent and total chrome. In this treat- ment facility, the
hexavalent and total chromium is converted into condi- tioned insoluble
trivalent chromium and iron hydroxide plus ferro-chromium colloidal
aggregate before the polymer is added. The treatment facility includes
1) reduction of hexavalent chromium using a ferrous ion solution, 2)
neutralization and conditioning, 3) flocculation, 4) clarification, 5)
filtration and 6) solids compaction. The treatment facility treats an
average of 300,000 gallons per day, with a maximum flow of
approximately 900,000 gallons per day. This is a requirements type
contract for one year beginning 01 Apr 98 thru 31 Mar 99 with four
one-year options. This is a small business set-aside. Vendors must
