The Navy is seeking information for state-of-the-art recycling processes and/or physical/thermal techniques that can significantly reduce the current volume of paint fluid waste generated from paint operations at Navy and Marine Corps facilities. The requirement is to significantly reduce the volume of latex (water-based) paints generated by 40 to 60 percent and to reduce current disposal costs of $1.50 to $2.00 per pound of liquid waste. Treatment technologies of interest are commercially available solid/liquid separation and/or thermal dewatering techniques that require low cost operation and low maintenance and that will not require further solid/liquid waste disposal. Technical data from previous in- house testing of the recycling process would be helpful.
