West, 907/753-2552/Contracting Officer, Corps of Engineers Description of Work: The project consists of renovating the 31,494 SF John F Kennedy Elementary School and constructing a 1,467 SF of administrative addition to the school. The school will be renovated to meet Anchorage School District standards. The project includes, but is not limited to: remodeling of the existing kitchen, replacement of kitchen equipment, complete renovation of the electrical system including distribution conductors, lighting, fire alarm, hearing impaired listening system in multipurpose room, mechanical and fan room renovation and HVAC upgrade throughout school, new sprinkler system, reinforcement of multipurpose room roof structure for snow drift loading and upgrade of ties from roof to shear walls to resist lateral loading, and general renovation/upgrade of finishes and hardware throughout school. Site work for the project includes remove existing hockey rink and replace with grass play area, expand existing parking lot, upgrade existing play structure and replace play surface under play structure. The project includes the abatement of asbestos containing materials.
