630-3566 The Brooklyn Veterans Administration Medical Center requires
professional Architect/Engineer and related technical services to
produce a complete space and utilization study of the Cardiac Care
Center located in the Medical Center at 800 Poly Place, Brooklyn, New
York. The study will include an assessment of the of current space use
and its ability to serve patients and staff. Specific tasks include a)
meeting and discussions with hospital staff to assess current
functional conditions and develop conceptual space layouts for review
and feedback from staff. b) Propose (3) options on how the space
utilization can be arranged to improve patient care and staff function
with the Cardiac Care Dept. c) Provide a cost estimate for renovations
for each option. d) Provide a final report with recommendations on the
various options. e) Identify a location for the new Cardiac
Catheterization machine with respect to the rest of the Departmental
functions. f) Prepare construction documents including asbestos
abatement, detailed construction cost estimate and phasing for site
preparation for the new Cardiac Catheterization machine and ancillary
equipment. g) Evaluate existing utilities, structural load, etc
available in the area and design new equipment layouts in compliance
with equipment manufacturer's recommendations and specifications. All
interested parties shall submit SF-254 and SF-255 to the address shown
above no later than 12/20/97. Selection of firms for negotiation shall
be based on (1) Professional capabilities; (2) Specialized experience
and technical competence, as required; (3) Capacity to accomplish the
work in the required time; (4) past performance on contracts with
respect to cost control, quality of work, and compliance with
performance schedules; (5) Utilization of CADD; (6) Geographical
location within 100 miles of the Brooklyn Medical Center and knowledge
