Four twin engine turbine powered airplanes for use by Department of the Interior bureaus to support fire suppression and other land management programs throughout the western United States and Alaska. Airplanes must be civil aircraft registered in the United States of America and have a US Standard Category Airworthiness Certificate. Airplanes will be flown by government employees and be used for personnel and cargo transport, airborne control platforms for coordinating wildfire suppression activities, and lead plane missions. Two aircraft will operate primarily from a base in Fairbanks Alaska, one from Minden Nevada, and one from Phoenix, Arizona/Pocatello Idaho. All aircraft will operate from other areas depending on seasonal weather and fire activities. All maintenance to be provided by contractor. On site maintenance support will be required. Contract availability period is for approximately 180 days of exclusive use from about April 1, 1998 through September 30, 1998. Options for two additional years are anticipated.
