Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC), management and operating
contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site
(SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina. The purpose of this notice is to
determine public interest in the possible licensing of a technology
called "Field Deployable Tritium Analysis System" (FDTAS). The FDTAS is
a remotely operated system for measuring tritium in surface or ground
water at environmental levels in near-real time. The FDTAS is the first
fully automated field system for the measurement of tritium
concentrations in aqueous samples, which requires no operator, yet
reaches tritium detection levels rarely reached in a laboratory using
liquid scintillation counting techniques. Respondents will be provided
with a technical brief and instructions for preparing and submitting
a business plan, an integral element of the licensing process.
Responses to this notice must be received by December 15, 1997.
