U -- NATIONAL EDUCATION GOALS DIGEST POC Contract Specialist, Virginia Bowen, (202)708-8222 Sources Sought- The National Education Goals Panel anticipates renewing an option year to the Education Policy Network for providing a weekly digest on the National Education Goals. The National Education Goals Panel was established as an independent agency in the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. It's primary responsibilities are: Reporting on national and state progress toward the Goals over a 10-year period; Working to establish a system of high academic standards and assessments; Identifying actions for federal, state, and local governments to Take; and Building a nationwide, bipartisan consensus to achieve the Goals. To meet these responsibilities, the National Education Goals Panel is interested in a wide dissemination of its reports and information. Since June, 1997, the Education Policy Network/Daily Report Card (DRC) has provided the National Education Goals Panel with a monthly and weekly digest and analysis of education news directly related to the National Education Goals. The digest appears at the National Education Goals Panel website and is distributed to the existing readership of the Daily Report Card which is in excess of 25,000 and is composed of frontline educators, business executives, political leaders, and journalists. The dissemination of the National Education Goals Digest (NEGP weekly) to the same readership as the Daily Report Card increases the attention given to the National Education Goals. The National Education Goals Panel feels that The Education Policy Network/Daily Report Card is unique in that it provides an established target readership for dissemination of progress on the National Education Goals. However, any business or firm who feels they are qualified and able should submit a written capability statement by COB December 31, 1997 outlining their qualifications. Please note that this will be a small business set aside, and only small businesses as defined under Standard Industrial Code 2721 or 8743 should respond.
