and Naval Warfare Systems Command has a requirement for and is
planning to solicit proposals from sources for Non-Development Item
(NDI) High Frequency Broadband and Narrowband Communications Systems
and Equipments, remote monitor and control subsystems, ancillary
equipment, related data, spare parts, factory training and engineering
services. Firm and option requirements for the first year and
requirements for four option years for various quantities, for several
Navy ship classes involving both new construction and retrofit
requirements, will be included. The communications systems and
associated equipment are intended to replace HF narrowband transmission
and reception equipments currently in use on U.S. Navy ships. RFP
packages are planned to be issued O/A 20 days from publication of this
notice. Copies of the RFP package can be downloaded from the SPAWAR
BBS. Qty: approximately 42 HFRG (broadband) systems, 837 narrowband
transmitters and 420 antenna couplers, including options and other
equipments. Closing date will be O/A 30 days after release of the RFP.
Questions/comments concerning this synopsis may be addressed to

described in CBD Synopsis No. 62 of 9/8/95 and CBD Synopsis No. 38 of
4/17/96 have been incorporated into this requirement. Comments received
in response to those synopses have been considered, and the resulting
RFP will reflect those comments. All responsible sources may submit an
offer, which shall be considered. SPAWAR intends to use its electronic
bulletin board system (BBS) for the issuance of the Request for
Proposals (RFP). Interested firms may download information concerning
this acquisition from the BBS. The draft RFP is currently available for
