Center, Danville, IL is seeking an architect/engineering firm to
prepare 100% complete working drawings and specifications and
construction period services for three projects combined under one
solicitation as specified in the general scope of the work for each
project. UPGRADE WARD/EXHAUST, BLDG 101-7, for Nursing Home and
Alzheimer Patients: Ward is to be completely renovated to include new
room finishes and floor plan modifications consistent with modern
models for the enhanced care of Nursing Home and Alzheimer patients.
HVAC systems serving this ward shall be redesigned to meet current VA
HVAC design criteria and standards. Design should allow renovation to
take place with minimal amount of facility disruption and disturbance
to building occupants; REPLACE HEATING SYSTEM, BLDG 64: Design a system
to replace existing steam convection heating system in Bldg 64. New
system shall employ the most current "proven" energy efficient and
cost-effective methods. Suggested alternatives for this system include,
but are not limited to, thin-wall pipe radiation system,
steam-coil/forced-air heating, or hot water-coil/forced-air heating;
RENOVATE INTERIOR BLDG 48 PHASE II: Provide design to completely
renovate the interior of Bldg 48 (a National Register Historic Carnegie
Library) to accommodate a large, dividable reception hall, a small
serving kitchen, and handicapped accessible restroom facilities on the
first floor. The basement level shall be designed to accommodate three
(3) conference/classrooms, a small breakroom area, and handicapped
accessible restroom facilities. The renovation of Bldg 48 shall also
include the design of a new independent stand-alone HVAC system and
modification or replacement of the existing elevator (elevator to have
three stops, i.e., basement, ground, and first floor levels). Lead
paint abatement shall also be included in the renovation design. The
A/E should have extensive experience in renovation of
historically-preserved buildings and have demonstrated ability to deal
effectively with state and/or National Historical Agencies. The
geographical limitation for consideration is within a 150-mile radius
of the city limits of Danville, Illinois. A/E firms interested in
submitting their 254's and 255's must submit them by close of business
on December 17, 1997. This procurement is set aside for an emerging
small business. The standard industrial classification code for this
procurement is 8711. The small business size standard for this
procurement is the average annual receipts for the preceding three
