A -- WIND TUNNEL TESTING SOL N68936-98-R-0033 DUE 011698 POC Tami Barker, Contract Specialist, (760) 939-7236 or Doreen Paul, Contracting Officer, (760) 939-9665 The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA intends to procure Wind Tunnel Test Data for a modified JDAM weapon scale model. The model is a 1/4 scale model of the GBU-31/MK-84. The model descriptions that follow assume that the model tails are in an 'X' orientation with the launch lugs located at top center. The model body is 37.721 inches long and has a maximum cross sectional diameter of 4.5 inches. The GBU-31/MK-84 forebody terminates at model station 25.335 and has a aft diameter of 3.995 inches. The upper strakes attach to the GBU-31/MK-84 forebody and are located at a 38 degree roll angle below the vertical reference. The lower strakes are mounted in a similar manner at a 45 degree roll angle below the horizontal reference. The suspension lugs are located top center with the umbilical connector aft of the lugs. The aft body is 12.273 inches long and has a forward diameter of 3.995 inches. The aft body has provisions for attaching the four control surfaces. The four control fins form an "X" relative to the launch lugs and are located 90 degrees relative to each other. The minimum test section size requirement for the freestream testing of the scale model of the JDAM weapon model is an 8' x 8' transonic wind tunnel. Test conditions -- Mach numbers will vary from 0.6 to 1.2. Testing will be run at a nominal Reynold's number of 2 million per foot. Contractor will be responsible for model installation and removal.
