3769: DESCRIPTION -- AN/UAS-12A, Night Vision Sight Equipment Set, APN
13220196, QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 3, QUANTITY PRODUCTION --
114, DEL SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000 (Includes 365 for submission of FA).
The AN/UAS-12A Night Vision Equipment Set is a light weight, passive
infrared imaging system which enables the gunner to search within
weapon slewing limitations, to detect, recognize, and aim at targets,
and accurately track the target during the flight phase of the TOW
missile in daylight or darkness and during use of enemy countermeasure
techniques. The major components of the system are the: (1) AN/TAS-4A,
(2) Boresight Collimater, (3) Vehicle Power Conditioner, (4) Battery
Power Conditioner, (5) Battery, (6) Equipment Cover, and (7) Field
Handling Case. DESCRIPTION -- AN/TAM-5 Post Amplifier Test Set, APN
13099878, QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 1, QUANTITY PRODUCTION -- 4,
DELIVERY SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000 (Includes 180 days for submission of
FA). The Amplifier Test Set is used to isolate in the amplifier post
assembly to a single replaceable subassembly, to gain balance the video
buffers, and to align the night sight and eyepiece reticle assembly.
DESCRIPTION -- AN/PAM-2, Boresight Collimator Test Set, APN 13419683,
QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 1, QUANTITY PRODUCTION -- 5, DELIVERY
SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000, (Includes 180 days for submission of FA). The
boresight collimator test set is used for critical alignment of the
boresight collimator in the field or in the depot. It consists of an
optical collimator and a precision test stand, including highly stable
optics that maintain calibration for long periods. DESCRIPTION -- TOW
2 Launcher, APN 13218438-0408, QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 3,
QUANTITY PRODUCTION 114, DELIVERY SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000 (Includes 365
days for submission of FA). The major components of the TOW 2 launcher
are: a) Launch Tube: A tube made of composite material that positions
and orients the TOW missile for launch, b) Traversing Unit (TU): An
electromechanical assembly which mounts on the launcher tripod or
vehicle pedestal. The TU mounts the missile, sights, and launch tube so
they maintain precise alignment while pivoting in azimuth and
elevation. The TU provides for rotation of sights and launch tube for
+30 to -20 degrees in elevation and 360 degrees in azimuth. The TU also
provides for the electrical interface between the TOW missile and the
missile guidance set (MGS), c) MGS: An electronic assembly that houses
a series of replaceable printed circuit cards which develop steering
commands, self-test functions, system timing, and power conversion
capability to control the missile flight. The MGS contains the software
fort the TOW systems and also houses the TOW battery assemblies or the
TOW vehicle power conditioner, d) Battery assembly: A field
replaceable unit which plugs into the battery compartment of the MGS
that provides the power to operate the TOW launcher. This rechargeable
nickel-cadium unit provides three independent voltages to operate the
weapon system; two 50-volt sections and one 24-volt system. A fully
charged battery assembly will have enough stored energy to fire a
minimum of 50 missile firings, e) Optical Sight/Sensor (OSS): A complex
optical-electronic assembly used for target acquisition and missile
tracking. The OSS mounts on the launcher TU and provides data to the
MGS, and f) Tripod: A heavy duty, portable base for providing level,
rigid ground mounting of the launcher TU. DESCRIPTION -- Battery
Charger, APN 11500154, QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 1, QUANTITY
PRODUCTION -- 8, DELIVERY SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000 (Includes 180 days
for submission of FA). TOW Battery Charger utilizes commercial 120-volt
power and is capable of discharging and charging one or two TOW
batteries within 4 hours. DESCRIPTION -- TOW Vehicle Power Conditioner,
APN 5952367, QUANTITY FIRST ARTICLE (FA) -- 3, QUANTITY PRODUCTION --
118, DELIVERY SCHEDULE -- 31 Jul 2000 (Includes 180 days for submission
of FA). TOW Vehicle Power Conditioner (TVPC) replaces the TOW batteries
in the MGS whenever the TOW system is operated from a vehicle. The TVPC
conditions the vehicle power to provide power to the TOW launcher. The
proposed contract type is Firm-Fixed-Price. The solicitation will
include a line for Production Quantity. The contract will also include
a line for Obsolescence Management Control Program. Under this program
the contractor will be responsible for identifying and locating all
obsolete parts and recommending alternate/replacement parts. THIS
SYNOPSIS IS FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY, DOES NOT
CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION, AND SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT
