68 -- LIQUID POLYMER SOL N00168-98-Q-0051 DUE 121797 POC Ray Park, Contracting Officer, 301-227-1121 FAX 301-227-1847 The Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Uniroyal for 6,000 lb. of Type C Liquid Polymer. The liquid polymers will be combined to produce a solid polyurethane material for Navy applications. This particular formulation was verified under an extensive R&D effort that not only ensured that the material could be maunfactured according to strict guidelines,but once made, had demonstrable physical properties. The verication tests were conducted over the course of two years and represent a significant Navy investment (the minimum test duration is one year,consisting of processing tests of liquid components as well as mechanical and long term exposure tests of cured materials). A key element of this procurement is vendor demonstration of the acceptabilty of the liquid materials by preparing solid polyurethane material samples for Navy testing. The contract will have a six month period of performance. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements under the authority of FAR 6.302.1.
