Carcinogenesis (LEC), Division of Basic Sciences (DBS), National Cancer
Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), plans to
negotiate a three-year follow-on option contract with the Cancer
Institute, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing 100021, Peoples
Republic of China, to screen high risk human hepatocellular carcinoma
in individuals in two Chinese townships. The main objective of this
study is to follow the previous study to continue to test the
hypothesis that exposure to aflatoxin B1 is associated with increased
allelic losses during the development of human hepatocellular carcinoma
and examine the association between serum alpha-fetoprotein levels and
the expansion of the stem cell compartment in the lever. The statutory
authority for this non-competitive acquisition is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1),
