Revenue (OTR) under the Chief Financial Officer of the District of
Columbia has embarked on a project to build a conference facility
within existing office space. The facility is to consist of a large,
fully equipped audio-visual meeting room where major management issues
can be presented, reviewed and evaluated. A smaller adjunct facility
to supplement the larger one is to also be installed. It will provide
similar but somewhat fewer utilities as are to be found in the main
room, and also become a location where training classes can be held.
The rooms are to be equipped with automated, ergonomically designed
seating and lighting, whiteboards, cork walls, projectors and screens,
computers, cameras, etc. The ADP equipment to be used in building the
facility (to complement any government owned equipment found to be on
hand and usable) is to be compatible with existing LANs used within
the city administration (generally Ethernet running Windows, Novell &
Ventana products). The District solicits expressions of interest by
qualified firms that can demonstrate they are capable of and have
experience in installations of the kind described. The end result of
the solicitation the District plans to issue, is to award a contract to
a firm for the purpose of designing the facility in conjunction with
the DCCFO's Project Manager, specifying the equipment and sources of
the equipment that is to be installed in it and construction of the
facility on a turn-key basis. Because the government is in the stage
where funding is to be allocated to the project, interested firms are
asked to submit documentation showing a sampling of previously
completed projects which equate roughly to the description provided
above, quoting costs. The elements of the total cost should be divided
to show (a) cost incurred in the design of each, (b) and the cost of
the construction/renovation of the rooms involved and (c) the cost of
the equipment installed. These price quotes will not be used to narrow
the number of firms on the vendor list that will be developed form the
replies received. Every firm expressing interest which provides a
sampling of their work and the cost breakdowns as reuqetsed will
receive a copy of the solicitation when it is issued. No scheduled
issue date for the solicitation has yet been established. Documentation
should be sent by mail or commercial courier service to: OCFO of the
