J -- REPAIR OF SLUICE VALVE LEAF GATES SOL DACW29-98-R-0005 DUE 123097 POC Contract Specialist, Diane Taylor, (504) 862-1156 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District requires refurbishing four (4) sluice valve leaf gates to like-new condition by repairing, welding, grinding and machining. The weld material shall be compatiable with ASTM A27-62, Grade 60-30 and shall be approved by the Contracting Officer prior to commencement of work. All existing seal strips be removed and replaced with new and installed on the restored gates. The leaf gates have abrasion wear in the areas where the leaf gates make contact with the frame and guides. Wear is greatest at the bottom. The contractor will be required to pick-up, refurbish and return two (2) gates at a time with a pick-up date of 30 calendar days between return of the first set and the second set of gates. The leaf gates will be loaded and unloaded from contractor's truck by the Government. The required delivery date for all four (4) gates will be no later than 10 April 1998.
