Lockheed Martin Idaho Technologies Company (LMITCO), a management and operating contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) is seeking interest in the licensing of a technology. The INEEL has developed a Real-Time Detector for Aqueous Cyanide. This is a detection method and apparatus to perform on-line, real-time measurement of aqueous free cyanide. A laboratory prototype can measure cyanide ranging from 5 micrograms per liter to 100 milligrams per liter, where the time required for analysis is as short as two minutes per measurement. The speed and accuracy of this method make it superior to conventional wet chemistry methods used for quantifying cyanide levels in water. A detector based on this technology could be useful in areas involving process monitoring and environmental compliance. This technology is available for licensing.
