A -- REGIONAL VERIFICATION TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT SOL DSWA01-98-R-0008 POC Michelle Gerenyi, Negotiator, (703) 325-1190, Edward Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking contractors with the capability to provide reports on the emerging strategic and conventional arms control needs in the Asia/Pacific Rim and Middle East regions and the specific regimes and technologies necessary to meet those needs. These reports will be used to support OSD policy makers responsible for strategic and conventional arms control and compliance by: 1) providing assessments and analyses of political, economic, military, and technical issues that are likely to influence arms procurement and the development of indigenous conventional and/or strategic arms control regimes in the regions; 2) discussing the potential impact of the introduction of highly capable theater missile defenses into the regions; 3) identifying potential technologies and conceptual architectures to monitor these arms control regimes; and 4) designing a strategy to achieve the proposed regimes with a focus on the U.S. role. The tasks will be to establish a project schedule, conduct background research, identify relevant treaty technologies and techniques, design and analyze arms control regimes, present assessment findings, and provide support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
