14 -- STING RAY MOD 1 TORPEDO SYSTEM POC Mr. A.J. Stevens, ADUW(SS), 011441179135427. ~SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS: 1. To select a Prime Contractor responsible for the Sting Ray Life Extension (SRLE) Main Production Order (MPO). The MPO contract will be a performance based contract for the manufacture and proving of the following items: (a) MoD 1 Torpedo modification kits, assembled into MoD 0 Torpedo hulls and their subsequent in-water proving to d~emonstrate compliance with the performance requirement specification. (b) Miscellaneous support equipment, including automatic test equipment. (c) Recovery and instrumentation sections. NOTE: In addition the Contract will include a Spares and in-Service Support package. BACKGROUND: 2. The MoD awarded a contract for the Full Development and Pre-Production (FDPP) of the Sting Ray MoD 1 Torpedo System to GEC-Marconi, Underwater Weapons Division, Waterlooville on 10 July 1996. The Contract will produce a Technical Data Pack suitable for the manufacture of modification kits for the Sting Ray MoD 0 Torpedo and MoD 0 Recovery and Instrumentation Section and for the manufacture of new Automatic Test Equipments. 3. The MoD plans to issue competitive tenders to potential Prime Contractors for the MPO of Sting Ray MoD 1 Torpedoes and Miscellaneous Support Equipment in the year 2000. EXPRESSING INTEREST: 4. Those companies wishing to express an interest should have a proven track record in the design, manufacture and in-service support aspects of complex guided weapon systems. Companies interested in this multi-million pound contract should submit evidence of their experience, knowledge, capability, organization, QA Certification and annual turnover.
