This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This is a notice of intent to enter into a contract on a sole source basis with Gentex Corporation, PO Box 324 Main Street, Carbondale, PA 18407 for Visor Lock Assembly, Anti-Twist Kits Part No. 96B9367. The visor lock assemblies will be installed on the Gentex helmet Model HGU-68/P. Gentex as the manufacturer of the helmets is the only responsible source who can provide the required visor locks. The helmet specifications and drawings to the helmet as well as the visor lock assembly are proprietary to Gentex therefore is the only company who can provide the visor lock assembly that is 100% compatible with the HGU-68/P helmet. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION THAT WILL BE ISSUED; Solicitation number N00421-98-R-1067 is issued as a Request for Proposal (RFP). The incorporated document and provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46 and Defense Acquisition Circular 91-10. The applicable SIC is 3728 and the small business size is 1000 employees. The contract line item number and item is: CLIN 0001 (3,984 ea) Visor Lock Assemblies P/N 96B9367; OPTION CLIN 0002 (1,922 ea) Visor Lock Assemblies P/N 96B9367; OPTION CLIN 0003 (3,984) Visor Lock Assemblies P/N. This will be a firm-fixed price contract. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. CLIN 0001 shall be delivered 45 Days After Date Of Contract; OPTION CLIN 0002 shall be delivered 60 days after exercise of the option; OPTION CLIN 0003 shall be delivered 90 days after exercise of the option. Note however, final delivery schedule is subject to further negotiation. Each kit shipping container shall be clearly marked with the Inspection and acceptance shall be made at the respective destinations identified above.
