DD -- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to modify the existing contract (No. 50DDNE-8-00002) option period with General Electric American Communications (GE Americom) for an additional eight months of telecommunications services. The contract, in its final option period, expires on January 31, 1998. This contract provides for (1) a communications system for transfer of TIROS-N wideband data from NESDIS Command and Data Acquisition Stations (CDAS) to various data processing facilities; (2) two-way narrowband communications services for the operation and control of TIROS-N satellites, and (3) half-duplex wideband transmission/reception of data between various locations throughout the country. Any prospective offeror must also demonstrate a cost and technical benefit to the Government in view of the short period of performance. Responses without the required documentation will be considered non-responsive. See Note 22. (0349)
