628-4660 This is a notice of Request for Quotation (RFQ) number
DTCG80-98-P-3FAMLC. The standard industrial classification code is 3731
and the size standard is 1000. Written quotations will be required. The
RFQ will be issued on or about 16 December 1997. Anticipated award date
is on or about 05 January 1998. Provide all labor, material, and
equipment necessary to perform refurbishment on both propellers on
board CGC Mackinaw. The spare propellers for the CGC MACKINAW require
moderate refurbishing to replace missing pieces of metal and repair
curled and cracked edges. These repairs are intended to restore the
propellers so that they function in the same manner as new propellers.
The contractor will remove propellers from Cutter Mackinaw at
Cheboygan, MI then transport to there facilities, perform work then
transport back to Cheboygan, MI and reinstall on board Cutter Mackinaw.
The 2 propellers are made of cast steel, are 14 feet in diameter and
weigh approximately 21,000 pounds each. Work will involve replacing
relatively large pieces of missing metal and doing welding repair.
Further, the contractor must perform the work so that specific
tolerances are met for pitch. Condition found reports are required
showing measurements of blade radius, section thickness, section length
and longitudinal position. The contractor is also required to
statically balance both propellers. Repairs may be done on one
propeller at a time. Contractor must perform repairs within 45 days
from the date of the purchase order. Work will be awarded in the near
future. Performance site will be announce later. All referenced
documents are available for viewing at 300 East Main Street, Suite 600,
Norfolk, VA. The proposed contract listed here is part of the Small
Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. Plans and
specifications will be issued on or after 16 December 1997. All
responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the
United States Coast Guard. This Notice is for information purposes for
