Request for Information: The following information constitutes a market
survey of the industry to identify potential sources and to obtain
information regarding the commercial industry's standard practices in
providing services of a type similar to the following: All personnel,
equipment, tools, materials, supervision and other items and services
necessary to receive, store, assemble/package, ship and manage the
inventory of course materials and to duplicate diskette course
materials in support of the Air Force's educational mission worldwide.
Examples of course material are, but are not limited to, volumes,
supplements, volume review exercises (VRE), course study reference
guides, and workbooks. Course media may consist of hard copy (books),
compact discs, computer diskette, video cassette tapes, audio tapes,
interactive video disks or other forms of training delivery. This
requirement necessitates on-site management. For Planning Pursposes: A
fixed price contract is contemplated with a one year basicperiod plus
four one-year option years. Security clearances are required. Release
of the solicitation is anticipated in the first quarter of 1998. The
applicable Standard Industrial Code (SIC) and size standard are
7389/$5M. Firms responding to this synopsis must furnish the following
information: 1) company name, address, point of contact, telephone
number and e-mail address; 2) business size (whether you are a small or
large business concern based on the size standard above); 3) evidence
of your firm's capability to provide on-site management of warehouse
operations of this magnitude; 4) literature relating to your firm's
standard quality control plan for warehouse operations and inventory
control; 5) firm's standard commercial terms and conditions for
warehouse management and inventory control; 6) names and telephone
numbers of some your customers (this office will query the customer
base on inspection and acceptance procedures) and 7) comments related
to the plausibility of using FAR Part 12, Acquisitionof Commercial
Items for this acquisition. This notice is not a request for proposal
(RFP). This synopsis is for planning purposes only and does not commit
the government to pay for the information requested. Industry
responses to this notice should be submitted not later than 15 calendar
