Market survey/Sources sought to conduct explosive melt-pour of Composition B explosives into M821A1/M889A1 81mm Mortar projectiles. Sources must be able to porduce items with less than 0.04 percent cast defects (cavitation, base separation, porosity, cracks and pipes) as inspected by x-ray and sectioning. Each steel 81mm projectile contains approximately 2 lbs. of Composition B explosive. Responses should include the following information: melt pour loading shift rate, X-ray or comparable method inspection shift rate (100 percent -- 1plane and 100 percent -- 3 plane), monthly production capacity through August 1998, process and equipment description, explosive storage capacity, amount of time required before production at rate may begin and past experience of melt pour loading of 81mm Mortar projectiles and similar projectiles.
