Applications are now being accepted for grants for Technical Writers.The Oil Spill Recovery Institute (OSRI) is committed to documenting the presentations made at the Practical Ice Observation Symposium (Jan 6-7, 1998) and to publish the proceedings of the workshop by March of 1998. This individual would be responsible to: (1) attend the Practical Ice Observation Symposium (Anchorage, Jan 6- 7,1998) and capture a detailed summary of each of the presentations, ideas presented in the workshop, and a summary of the workshop determinations. Abstracts from each of the presenters and a video of the entire symposium will be available to the writer; and, (2) further, this individual will need to meet with the program committee for coordination before and review of drafts after the symposium. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the topics ofsea and glacial ice; ice detection technologies like SAR, sonar and infra-red imaging; and general maritime navigation protocols with a particular emphasis on oil tankers. The duration of this grant will be three to four months. Grant amount not to exceed $5,000. Publications costs for the proceedings are separate from this grant. Application Process Interested applicants are asked to submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and a budget showing total project cost and the amount requested as an OSRI grant. Proposals will be evaluated on applicants ability to perform the project tasks andexperience in writing and publishing technical material.
