The Air Force expresses its continuing interest in the Space Based Laser Readiness Demonstrator (SBLRD), and is proceeding with planning for the acquisition of the SBLRD. Reference the AF SBL Project homepage for details (http://www.afbmd.laafb.af.mil/ade/sblproject.htm). The Air Force Project Management Office (PMO) envisions conducting the acquisition using the Other Transaction procurement authority of 10 U.S.C. 2371. The PMO is interested in hearing from any organization potentially interested and capable in acting in the role of "prime contractor" for this effort. Interested organizations should submit letters of interest to the PMO, by mail to SMC/ADE, attn: Capt Mark Baird, 2420 Vela Way, Suite 1467-80, El Segundo, CA 90245-4659; by email at SBLRD@afbmd.laafb.af.mil; or by fax at (310) 363-8725, no later than 7 Jan 97. We also would like to hear from organizations who are interested in participating on other than the prime level.
