Protection and Fire Alarm Testing, Corpus Christi Army Depot. The work
involves the inspection and testing of fire protection and associated
fire alarm systems for 37 buildings. Inspection will address the annual
requirements as outlined in NFPA 25, the standard for the inspection,
testing and maintenance of water based fire protection systems. The
buildings have roof heights of approximately 30 feet and are used for
material storage. In addition to the NFPA 25 annual requirements,
testing will include the removal of sprinkler heads to be laboratory
tested, cutting coupons from sprinkler piping for visual and structural
testing, use of boroscope for inspection of interior of sprinkler
piping, hydrant flow tests, main drain flow tests, alarm initiating
device tests, and dry-trip testing of sprinkler systems. As part of the
testing, the contractor shall provide and install replacement sprinkler
heads and repair of piping sections removed for testing. Results of
testing shall be incorporated into a computer maintenance management
software program provided by the contractor, specifically designed for
inspection, testing, and maintenance of water based fire protection
systems following the procedures outlined in NFPA 25. Contractor shall
provide O & M training on the testing of sprinkler systems and provide
the services of the software program purveyor for training and hands on
demonstration of the computerized management for fire protection
systems. Solicitation will issue on or about 05 January 1998 with bid
opening on or about 04 February 1998. The terms of the contract will
consist of a one-year period and four one-year option periods. The
proposed contract listed here is a 100% small business set-aside. See
