COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 29,1997 PSA#2000Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- ADDITIONAL LEVEL OF EFFORT ON THE B-52H WEAPON SYSTEM SAFETY
ASSESSMENT POC Susan Benik, Negotiator, (703) 325-6962, Edward Archer,
Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028 The Defense Special Weapons Agency
(DSWA) has a requirement for an additional level of effort on the B-52H
Weapon System Safety Assessment (WSSA). These efforts are needed to
conduct additional analyses on Weapon States (WS) 2,4,5, and 6,
incorporate thermal analyses of the B-61 and W-80 warheads, and to
provide services in support of the Nuclear Detonation Safety Exception
(NDSE). The work must be completed by 31 July 1998 in order to support
of the national laboratories effort to investigate and clarify the NDSE
issue. DSWA believes that PLG, Inc., the incumbent contractor currently
providing support under DSWA contract DNA001-92-C-0195, is the only
responsible source having the resources and experience to accomplish
this work within the required timelines. DSWA plans to award a sole
source modification to this contract. Any firm desiring consideration
must fully identify their capability to perform this effort. See Note
22 (substitute 15-day proposal receipt period in lieu of 45-day
period). Information on DSWA solicitations, already released, can be
obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. Acquisition
Management has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home page
available on the World Wide Web. Information will include this
synopsis and more. Please check us out at www.dswa.mil. Reference
